FLAT PATTERN DESIGN
Throughout Fall Quarter of 2016, I learned how to draft patterns sized specifically for a student in my Flat Pattern Class. My client, Gabrielle Wattum, filled out a client profile with her desires in a garment. From there, a mood board and sketches were created. Patterns were drafted and edited to fit Gabrielle's body. Then, a muslin mock-up was created and adjusted for fit. This stage took the longest in order to adjust the fit as well as the pattern drafts. Finally, the garment was constructed in the fashion fabric.

Inspiration was obtained by knowing Gabrielle's wants, desires, and lifestyle. She wanted a co-ordinate outfit for everyday comfort and sophistication. The garment was constructed for the Fall/Winter 2016 season. Many of the colors and fabric swatches that were chosen represented a muted fall color pallet. The fabric choice ended up being a dark green 30% wool 70% acrylic blend fabric to allow for comfort and stretch.
